How do your online courses work?

Our online courses are a multi-media based. They utilize instructor-led videos, audio, text and visual illustrations to deliver the learning. Training always focuses on real world scenarios and skill-set development. There is also downloadable course notes, templates, online tests, and coursework to complete.

Hudson’s self-paced training programs are designed in a modular fashion to allow a learner the flexibility to work with expert level instruction anytime 24/7. All courses are arranged in defined sections with navigation controls allowing them to control the pace of their training. This allows them to learn at their own pace around their schedule.

What happens after I purchase a course? How do I get started?

Once you purchase an online course, we will contact you within one business day to provide you with login info to access your course materials online. We usually send out login codes within 60 minutes after you have enrolled for an online course. If you have not received your login information within 24 hours, please check your email’s spam folder to make sure it didn’t end up there. You are also welcome to contact us anytime if your login information has not arrived within this timeframe.

Login access is 24/7, and you can access training courses from any computer, laptop, or mobile device as long as you have an internet connection. This allows you to fit learning into your schedule anytime, anywhere.

How long do your courses normally take to complete?

Our online courses are self-paced, so it can take as little or as much time as you like. You’ll enjoy 12 months of access to most of our online courses, but many courses take as little as a few days or a few weeks to complete.

However one exception is Diploma Courses, which require up to two years to complete.

 

How long do I get access to my course materials?

For most courses, you’ll get 12 months of access to live online classes with experienced tutors. This access is available even after you’ve completed your course or certification.

Are your instructors qualified?

Hudson only works with expert instructors who are highly qualified and experienced. For instance, our IT instructors have a minimum of 15 years real-world experience and are subject matter experts in their fields.

Our intuitive online course platform allows learners to interact and collaborate with instructors, engage in discussions, and ask questions to get the most out of their learning. And you also have access to experienced tutors who can walk you through any course topic you may be struggling with.

What are Live Labs?

Live Labs are in essence simulators for IT learners. They allow an individual to apply their course skills in a software environment that is not harmful to others or equipment. As an example, a learner can configure a network and setup a firewall within such an environment. Live Labs not only provide learners with valued experience, but help to better prepare them for their final exams. All Live Labs come with instructions and tasks. These tasks are related to the material covered in a course. For instance, if a learner undertakes a networking course, s/he will be required to undertake networking related tasks in his or her Live Lab.

In today’s world of complex IT systems and technologies, it is essential that IT professionals and those new to IT are able to demonstrate how to use and understand various systems and software. Using Live Labs can help develop a learner’s practical IT skills in a safe working environment without the need to invest in hardware and software. With the ease and convenience of the Internet, we provide the learner with access to real equipment that brings theory to life and gives them a greater depth of technology understanding. Having Live Lab experience can also give a learner an edge on their CV.

Do you provide tutoring and exam support?

Yes! Here are the types of support we provide:

Tutoring

We offer free tutor support on our entire range of courses, Monday to Friday 9:30am-6pm GMT. We also offer 24/7 Tutor Support as an upgrade option.

Exam Support

We’ll help you set up exams for your certifications. Whether you’re looking for a test centre nearby, or want to set up an online exam at home, we’ll walk you through all of your options. Our Pro Packs also combine courses with relevant exam fees.

Technical Support

Should any technical issues arise, our support team is here to solve your problems as quickly as possible.

 

How does the exam process work? Do I take it online or in an exam hall?

Online Exams

Most exams are conducted online. You can take the exams at home or in your office, as long as you have a quiet, private space with a webcam and internet connection.

During the exam you will be required to setup a webcam in your office, and will have a set amount of time to do the exam. Once you start, you will be monitored by an examination proctor who will observe you over your web camera to ensure you are not using any devices or other methods to cheat. Once you start, you cannot start over again. Your exam answers will be submitted at the end of the test and you will receive your results instantly or when the proctor tells you.

If you have sat an exam and passed, this will normally be posted to you within several weeks. If you are doing a short course, you might be allowed to print out your certificate of completion after you’ve finished your course. The more higher level certifications take longer to arrive.

 

Taking an Exam at a Test Centre

Some certifications require you to sit for the exam in a test centre. Exam halls are available around the world; contact our support team for help finding a test centre near you.

Are exam fees included in the cost of the course?

For most courses, exam fees are separate. However, we do offer Pro Packs which include all exam fees and any relevant Live Labs. Pro Pack courses include Cisco certifications, CompTIA certifications, Six Sigma, IT Support, Microsoft Office, and Microsoft Windows Server 2012.

If I fail an exam, can I resit it again?

Yes. In most cases it’s just a simple case of booking a new date and time. You will have to pay for the exam resit however. It should be noted that you cannot normally resit the same exam on the same day you failed.

How much do exams normally cost?

Prices depend on the certification. Here are a few average prices:

  • Microsoft Office Specialist: Normally around £55-£65
  • Microsoft IT Specialist: Microsoft exams are normally £99, excluding Microsoft Office exams.
  • CompTIA: Normally around £90-£120
  • Cisco: Normally around £90-£120

Our Pro Packs make it easy by including the cost of all relevant Exam fees and Live Labs in the cost of the course.


Payments & Ordering

Can I pay for my course in installments?

Yes! We offer easy monthly installment plans for most courses. Depending on the course, you can spread the cost of your course over a 1-12 month period, interest free. No credit checks or credit agreement required.

  • Bundles: For our Certification Bundles and Soft Skills Bundles, you can pay in three monthly installments.
  • Diplomas: Course fees on our Accredited Diplomas can be spread over a period of up to 12 months.
  • Pro Packs: Course fees on our Pro Packs can be spread over 3-6 months, however you will not be able to sit your exams until your full balance is paid.

Do you offer bulk discounts?

Can I get a refund or exchange if I am not happy with the course I purchased?

We offer a 7 Day Money-Back Guarantee. You can try our courses risk-free, and if you’re not completely satisfied within a 7-day period, we’ll give you a full refund — no questions asked.

For most courses, you also have the option to exchange the course if it’s within 60 days from the date you enrolled.

For Businesses

Are there assessments part way through the year to determine whether staff are doing well?

You can monitor your performance through the internal scoring on the Learning Management System (LMS). There are tests and coursework throughout the course that will allow you to grade your level of knowledge at certain points. There is also a final assessment (i.e. mock test).
