Do I need Microsoft Office 2016 to take this course?

While it is not necessary to own a copy of Microsoft Office 2016 to work your way through the course material, it will be necessary to have a copy to use the GMetrix exam simulator. If you do not own a copy of Microsoft Office 2016, you can access a 30 day free trial version directly through Microsoft by clicking here. We recommend you activate this after you have completed the course as your trial version is only valid for 30 days.

How do the Excel and PowerPoint courses work?

These courses are made up of three main resources as shown below. Each Microsoft certification course has as its own set of resources, i.e. 1 x online course, 1 x GMetrix practice exam, 1 x official exam. Each resource is designed to work in conjunction with each other to ensure the successful path to certification. You will complete one course and exam, then repeat the process for the remaining course. Once you have passed the exams, you will receive two certifications from Microsoft in Excel and PowerPoint 2016. Read below to learn more about the resources in this course.

      Video Learning

Access to video based online learning material. Tutors use diagrams and illustrations to teach the classes, as well as giving demonstrations of equipment. Lessons are pre-recorded allowing you to  fast-forward, rewind and pause at any time throughout the lessons. Videos can be viewed on different devices including a desktop computer, laptop, tablet, and smart phone.

     GMetrix Practice Tests and Simulator

As part of the Excel and PowerPoint courses, you will be given access to a GMetrix system. The GMetrix system has two functions. The first is to allow you to practice your skills you will learn through the video based course material. The second function is to prepare you for the MOS exams via the exam simulator. This is the closest experience to the real exams. The GMetrix system is to be used in conjunction with the video based course material.

     Official Microsoft Exams

Having confidently passed the practice tests, you will be ready to sit the official Microsoft exams – which we will book on your behalf. These are known as an ‘online, web-proctored exams’. This means they can be taken at home. One of the requirements of taking these exams is that you must have a web camera so a proctor can observe you during the exams. This is to ensure no cheating takes place.
